Ms. Tshering Chonzom Bhutia is coordinating the Heinrich Böll Foundation programme on ‘Democracy and Conflict’ in India since August 2008. The basic objectives of the programme being to further peace education, conflict prevention and strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and democratisation – not only in the fields of Hindu-Muslim conflict, the Tibetans in exile, and in the South Asian region – but also a conflict ridden region at the periphery of India, i.e. the Northeast region; with gender being a cross cutting concern.
She holds a master degree in ‘Politics with specialization in International Relations’ from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University and an M Phil from the Centre for East Asian Studies, SIS, JNU.
