Rajiv Bhatia is a scholar-diplomat with a rich mix of diplomatic experience and academic achievements. During his 36-year-long innings in the Indian Foreign Service, he served as India's ambassador/ high commissioner to Kenya, Myanmar, Mexico, South Africa, and Lesotho as well as Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat. He headed the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) as its director general during 2012–2015. He is a prolific columnist and TV commentator. He is also the author of three books on Indian foreign policy, India-Myanmar relations, and India-Africa relations. (The last two are Routledge publications.)
