India International

About

India is a rising power in the international geo-political landscape. It is writing a dynamic role for itself using its economic weight of being the fastest growing major economy and third largest contributor of global growth. Indias foreign policy and the strategies adopted are influencing and have the potential to shape the international order. Centre stage are trade, economic, defense and strategic partnerships as are India’s undisputed roles in global and regional governance forums like the G-20, BRICS, ASEAN and others where it contributes towards strengthening South- South co-operation. South-South cooperation along with triangular co-operation is necessary to achieve the UN 2030 Agenda. Furthermore, within multilateral negotiations, India seeks to change the rules through reforms that are more just and reflective of the needs and aspirations of Global South. India’s status as a donor and a stakeholder in the emerging international financial architecture such as the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank is giving it an additional strategic and political mileage.

In this realm, our work supports civil society engagement, analysis and debates on India’s expanding role in global affairs. In the emerging narrative of BRICS, G-20 and South-South cooperation, our partners critically locate India’s role and relevance. How can India lead by example and advance the needs of the Global South? For India, the Covid 19 pandemic has been a turning point as public health, economy, security, and political instability ensues, but also broader geopolitical implications unfold. How should India ride the shifting global & regional geopolitics, while forging the full synergies between a healthy people and planet? These are urgent questions for Indian civil society to build critical awareness and involvement with policy-making institutions.

A note on green federalism

The success of green federalism depends on what institutional mechanisms are created to establish communication and procedures between the various tiers of government and the thematic resorts that need to be involved to adequately address projects and programmes towards ecologically sustainable development.
