Strengthening Indo-German climate and energy cooperation

Expectations of the German Federal Government at RE-INVEST 2024
For free

From 16-18 September 2024, the fourth ‘Renewable Energy Investors’ Meet and Expo’ (RE-INVEST 2024) will take place in Gandhinagar, India. The conference will be attended by tens of thousands of delegates from all over the world. It is an initiative of the Indian government aimed at strengthening energy security and expanding renewable energies. To this end, additional financial resources are to be made available or acquired through new investors, joint ventures and partnerships.

Germany is one of RE-INVEST's most important partner countries in 2024. Svenja Schulze, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), will launch the ‘Indo-German Platform for Investments in Renewable Energies Globally’ together with the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). For the long-standing Indo-German relations in the energy and climate sector, this is a further step towards closer cooperation.

This position paper, developed by Germanwatch with support by the Heinrich Boell Foundation, sets out specific expectations on the German government that could help to strengthen this cooperation within the framework of RE-INVEST.
