From September 16-18, 2024, the fourth "Renewable Energy Investors' Meet and Expo" (RE-INVEST 2024) will take place in Gandhinagar, India. The conference, which aims to strengthen energy security and expand renewable energies, attracts tens of thousands of delegates from around the world. In 2024, Germany is one of the main partners. This position paper outlines expectations for the German Federal Government to strengthen this cooperation.

The mentioned deficiencies, challenges and recommendations were developed within the framework of the 2023 scoping exercise “Energy transition in India” and discussed with relevant key actors such as representatives from Indian and German think tanks, decision-makers in the German parliament and different ministries, academics, and activists from the field of energy transition in India, climate foreign policy, development, human rights, and environmentalism.

The scoping report examines and reviews existing policies, regulatory structures and instruments to promote, develop, monitor and regulate renewable energy at the central and state levels.
