Regional Dialogue

The on-going meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Conference of Myanmar is expected to bring together all ethnic nationalities and government negotiators to build a democratic federal union. A keynote addressed by former Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Gautam Mukhopadhya at a conference on "Federalism and India-Myanmar Relations" in Mizoram.

In order to strengthen India’s engagement in Myanmar and dialogue between the two countries, hbs India, Institute of Social Sciences, the Burma Centre Delhi and Asian Confluence recently organised a media workshop in Shillong, Meghalaya from 20 - 21 April 2016. An Indian peace delegation visited Pakistan from 17-26th March 2011 to express their solidarity with the Pakistani civil society and to jointly reiterate the desire of the people in both the countries to see the India-Pakistan dialogue moving forward. They met civil society members, journalists, law makers, federal ministers and leaders of various political parties who welcomed them with open arms.

Geopolitically South Asia has never been a coherent region. South Asia is suffering from numerous conflicts leading to political and economic instability. The regional organisations like SAARC have failed to meet people's expectation. This conference identified relevant issues and suggested future course of action and made a pledge to enhance regional cooperation not only in economic matters but also towards building a unique South Asian Identity above national considerations
